What we collect

We collect the information needed to create, print, and deliver your personalized book and to keep your account secure.

• Account and contact details, including your email address.
• Book details, such as the recipient name and age you provide.
• Photos and the illustrations, cover, and print files created from them.
• Order and delivery details. Stripe processes payment information, and CrayonBook does not receive your full card number.
• Messages you send us and operational data such as basic device, browser, and product-usage information.

How we use information

• Provide sign-in, book creation, proof review, payment, printing, shipping, and support.
• Send essential account and order messages, including sign-in links, proof alerts, receipts, shipping updates, and service notices.
• Protect CrayonBook, prevent fraud, troubleshoot problems, and improve product quality and reliability.
• Meet legal, accounting, tax, and recordkeeping obligations.

Your photos and generated artwork

Your photos are private customer content. We use them to provide the service you requested, including creating illustrations and print-ready files and performing limited staff quality review. We do not sell your photos or use them for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Please upload only photos you have permission to use. If a photo includes a child or another person, you represent that you are authorized to provide it for this purpose.

Service providers

We share information only as reasonably needed with providers that help operate the service. These currently include Supabase for accounts and data storage, Vercel for hosting, OpenAI for image generation, Stripe for payment and tax tools, Resend for email delivery, and Lulu for printing and fulfillment. Their handling of information is also governed by their own terms and privacy practices.

Marketing messages

CrayonBook account and order messages are transactional and may be sent when needed to provide the service. We will send optional promotional email only with an appropriate permission or other lawful basis. Promotional messages will identify CrayonBook and include a simple way to unsubscribe. Opting out of marketing will not stop essential account or order messages.

Retention and deletion

We keep information for as long as reasonably needed to provide and secure the service, complete orders, handle support, and meet legal obligations. Retention can vary by data type. Transaction, tax, fraud-prevention, and dispute records may be kept after an account or book is deleted where required or reasonably necessary.

To ask for access, correction, or deletion, email hello@crayonbook.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

Children

CrayonBook is a service for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly ask children to create accounts or submit personal information directly. Adults may create a book about a child only when they have the right and authority to provide the related information and photos.

Security and international processing

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, but no system is completely secure. CrayonBook is operated in the United States, and information may be processed in the United States and other places where our providers operate.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product or law changes. We will post the revised policy here and change the effective date. If a change is material, we will provide additional notice when appropriate.
